New guy here

Hey dudes and chics! My name is Mike and I live in Missouri and im 36 years old.

I have not got my first tarantula but I have been reading and reading online about them. Wanna be educated about them before I get one so it lives a long good life. Im interested, and have been a very long time, to get myself a bird-eater or cobalt blue. Ive read that bird-eaters are aggressive but I have no intentions of handling it. just want a big ass beautiful tarantula to gaze upon through its glass home. So...feel free to say hey and leave me messages! Talk to ya'll later and I should be roaming the forums from time to time!!

Mike, welcome to the forums!! So many gorgeous Ts out there, I dunno that those are the best choices when getting a first tarantula, especially cobalts, very defensive T's that have no problem charging after you. Bird-eaters, meh, not as bad as the cobalt, hahaha but, there are just so so many out there, maybe try something a little more calm before getting one of those. I have many defensive species and yet still one of my favorites is aviculara aviculara. Super neat, docile species of T that are good at acting like springs. : )

What is a good T to purchase for a beginer? I have always been the type to start out gung-ho with everything I do so that is why I want a bird-eater or cobalt. Like I said, iIhave no intentions of handling the T, just want something to admire but I am willing to look at something a bit more non-aggresive or a beginer spider to start out with.

Thanks for the welcome Web!

I am a huge fan of aviculara Mike, I know where you are coming from, haplopelma was my second T, heh, yeah little more than I bargained for. In hindsight, I would have given myself some time with other species before getting her. There are other Ts that are on the more skittish side, such as p.irminia and cyclosternum fasciatum. They are all fast Ts though but those I mentioned aren't as apt to haul off and sink their fangs into you as they are to just bolt. I'm not gonna tell you, don't go as big as you want but be aware of how they react and don't underestimate them.
